Andy Quirk

Andy Quirk is a musical comedy based in Glossop, Derbyshire. Performing in a variety of guises, he is best known as “The UK’s Premier Rapper of First World Problems”, where he is often joined by his Lead Backup Dancer, Anna J. A regular performer on the circuit, originally in London and now across the north in Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds, Andy headlines smaller nights and MC’s his own shows in the Peak District.

2019 see’s Andy and Anna take their third full-run show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. 2018’s show, “First World Problems”, received positive press - including a being selected as one of only two shows recommended with “Be first in the queue for this” by alternative festival bible, Fringepig. The 2018 show also toured a number of other festivals, including Hastings, Brighton and Guildford Fringe. It was also booked for the Scottish music festival, Eden.

In the run up to Edinburgh 2019, the new show, “99 (First World) Problems,” has appeared at fringe festivals in Leicester, Coventry, Buxton, Manchester and Morecambe. Andy and Anna were invited to appear on BBC Radio Manchester during this time and crowd favourite, "Meal Deal”, was played on air. They were also interviewed by popular Youtube channel Love MCR.

An FWP show is typified by irritatingly catchy tunes, a serious amount of audience participation (as they are called upon to perform as part of the “crew”) and - in festival shows - silly sketches between the unfailingly polite Andy Quirk and his surly and juvenile lead backup dancer.
