Brendan Dempsey

"Brendan Dempsey is very funny with a really nice casual nature, so his jokes sneak up on you and hit you hard"- The Comic Bible, NY

Since first taking to the stage in 1991, Brendan has performed stand-up to audiences all over Ireland and Britain, in Europe, as well as Canada, the USA, Asia, Africa, and across Australia. The only continents he has not played are Antarctica and South America. Cold, inhospitable - uninhabited in parts and suffering terrible economic downturns in others. Coincidence? Perhaps, but do you really want to take that chance … ?

"Very Tall" - The Sunday Times

The start of this year saw Brendan in Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York, though he's still most widely recognised for his role as Jim Kelly - the Lottery rep in Waking Ned (Devine). Brendan's other film credits include the hit comedy, About Adam, Separation Anxiety and Moll Flanders. For Television, he's been in the Father Ted Christmas special, Couched, Podge & Rodge, and The End for RTE. Brendan's stand up has been recorded and broadcast by RTE, ITV, BBC and Channel 4.

"Big" - The Irish Times

This year Brendan continues to travel from country to town to attempted village, plying his trade to those willing to part with their cash to listen to his brilliantly crafted nonsense. He shall be recording a second series of Henderson's History of the World for radio, as well as a new radio series The Bee's of Manulla. Brendan shall also be chief scriptwriter on the spoof medical drama gr - a new comedy insert for the Gerry Ryan Show.

"6'6" " - The Evening Herald

As if that wasn't enough, Brendan's just finished recording and co-editing the second series of The Comedy Improv Radio Show. A member since 1994, THE COMEDY IMPROV have played to thrilled audiences at festivals in Edinburgh, Melbourne, & Adelaide. This year, they shall once again be festival favourites for their eighth successive Kilkenny Cat Laughs festival, where in the past they have performed with famous people off the telly like some of the cast from The Simpsons, Cheers, Whose Line is it Anyway? and Saturday Night Live.

"Very Large " - The Evening Herald

In his spare time, Brendan will be found writing, working on a television sketch pilot for RTE (Stew), his own short films, doing cheesy commercials, voice overs, experimental theatrical Improv, and - for this year only - getting married..
