Alexis Dubus

Winner: Amused Moose Award - Best Comedy Show - Edinburgh Fringe 2012
Nominee: Best International Show Award - New Zealand Comedy Festival 2012

WINNER: Three Weeks Editors' Award - Top 10 Fringe Experiences 2008

“A good line in effervescent banter and one-liners …a solid stock of material with perfect timing, particularly articulate with topical observational humour … an intelligent and well-delivered set.” - Vivienne Arkley, Paramount Comedy

“Surrealistic, irreverent and brilliant.” - The Scotsman

“He’s an aspiring actor – yes, another one – which gives him a confidence and stage presence that can only help. But, unlike many other thespian wannabes, there’s care in the writing, not just in the performing … enough clever one-liners and visual gags to suggest real promise.”
Steve Bennett, www.chortle.co.uk

“A sharp, flowing set from a resourceful stand-up with a mobile and impish face. Affectionate and gifted, with great material.” - John Park, Fringe Report

“Puppy-eyed and floppy-haired, with relaxed patter, stage charisma and something I can only describe as a kind of winningly tangible eagerness to please, you not only giggle but kind of wanna be in his gang.” - www.paramountcomedy.com

"A very slick act with sharp gags aplenty." XS Malarkey

"Wonderful... utterly charming." - Time Out

"Works a room brilliantly - watch him cater for every demographic." London Lite

Originally from Lee Common, a small village nestled in between some hills, Alexis began stand up comedy in 2001. Since then he has moved to London, brushed off the hay, and performed at venues across the UK, as well as France, Spain and the USA.

His high-energy performances, combined with a cheeky wit and deft comic timing, have proved a hit at intimate venues (Amused Moose, Downstairs at the King's Head) and larger venues alike (The Comedy Store, Rawhide, Komedia, Assembly Rooms Edinburgh).

He is also a member of sketch group Cat Of The Week.

In 2008 Alexis took his first solo show "A R#ddy Brief History Of Swearing" to the Edinburgh Fringe, where it played to sellout audiences every night and won him a Three Weeks Editors' Award as one of their Top 10 Fringe Experiences.
Here are a couple of reviews:

"What a show! Stimulating, educational and informative... I implore you, pop along and experience something brilliantly fascinating. Always fantastically light hearted, foul mouthed but never crude, I have to say this is possibly the best ruddy show on the Free Fringe." 5 STARS Three Weeks

"As informative as it is funny. We crash through a huge amount of gags and information, and the hour whips by. If you don't enjoy this show you're a fucking cocksucker." 4 STARS Steve Bennett, Chortle.co.uk

When not performing stand up, Alexis is also an actor, compere and presenter.
