The Treason Show

The Treason Show is the monthly topical satire sketch show at Komedia in Brighton. we've been running for four years and have 20 writers and twelve writer/comedians who appear in the performance team.

The Guardian said of us "Savagely Funny-Magnificently Silly".

We are always looking for new writers and would be happy to receive unsolicited material. We pay too!

Mark Brailsford biog

Mark Brailsford is currently the Artistic Director and head writer of The Treason Show, ('Alternative Perrier Award nominee'- The Guardian). Mark's professional life began as an actor at the age of 15, in films such as PINK FLOYD THE WALL and P'TANG YANG KIPPERBANG, the first Film on Four, written by Jack Rosenthal and directed by Michael Apted. Other TV credits include EASTENDERS, CASUALTY and TUMBLEDOWN directed by Richard Eyre for the BBC. Theatre credits include UNDER MILK WOOD at The Shaw Theatre; TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD at the Mermaid Theatre; KAFKA IN LOVE directed by Ron Moody at The Kings Head Theatre; JOSEPH (No1 Tour); THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, THE TAMING OF THE SHREW (Tour) and ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD in the West End.

As a writer, Mark has written for WEEKENDING (BBC R4), a comedy drama series, BBK, the sit-com pilot SEX LIVES AND VIDEOTAPE and sketch s?hows, all for cable TV. Mark also wrote and directed the short film THE CLONES OF MICHAEL CAINE. Plays include FLY ME TO THE MOON, Starring Sylvester McCoy, BIG BUDDHA BEACH and THREE WISHES on the London fringe and comedy sketch shows RADIO CITY, AS TIME GOES BY and NEWSREVUE. Mark is currently writing a regular column for THE INSIGHT magazine, Brighton's equivalent to TIME OUT.

Mark's directorial debut was in 1991 with BUDDY CAN YOU SPARE A SONG, which transferred from The Kings Head Theatre to The Arts Theatre in the West End: DECKCHAIRS at the Kings Head, NEWSREVUE, London's longest running comedy show ('97'to '99), and founded THE TREASON SHOW in June 2000.

As a musician, Mark has travelled the world as a guitarist and singer/songwriter once running away to join a 60's Spanish Rock and Roll band called Los Iberos.

Mark is 39 and used to look young before he founded The Treason Show.
