Matt Burton

rambling leaps of illogic kept the audience in fits of laughter” – Yawp Comedy Mag

As unpredictable as they come, Matt Burton fuses a healthy mix of honesty, keen observation and improvisation to create a very unique and hilarious stand up experience making him in demand as an MC and Headline act in Melbourne and throughout Tasmania, where he has been performing for 9 years.

Originally from Hobart, Tasmania, Matt first achieved national success at 18 as a Raw Comedy National Finalist. At the age of 19 Matt found himself supporting acts such as Adam Hills and Will Anderson but well and truly made his mark on the Tasmanian scene after creating and hosting the new material room „The Playground‟, which is often been regarded as the catalyst for the Tasmanian comedy boom over the next 6 years. His original MC style mixed with sketch comedy pulled regular numbers previously unseen in the Hobart scene. Matt gets much of his writing done during sabbaticals in Thailand, Uganda and Northern California and sources most of his inspiration from relationships he forms in foreign places.
Although recognized primarily for his comedy exploits, Matt is known to act on stage and screen, playing a diverse array of characters. He is currently acting in an ongoing role in the upcoming drama series „The Kettering Incident‟, which will be released through BBC Worldwide in 2015.
