Martin Gold

Looking at Martin, it seems impossible to believe that his professional career began over 20 years ago when, as an eleven year old comedy impressionist, he first appeared on stage.

His natural ability to make people laugh quickly guaranteed his progression into stand up comedy - soon becoming a huge hit with theatre audiences throughout the country. As a comedian, Martin has shared top billing in four sell-out summer shows on the island of Jersey, and has since gone on to star alongside such legends as Gene Pitney, Tammy Wynette, Ken Dodd, Les Dawson to name but a few. His talent was subsequently recognised by the Variety Club (GB) when they named him "Comedian Of The Year" 2 years running.

Today, Martin still enjoys working cabaret, and is always a sought after choice on the Hilton Hotel and Warner Hotel entertainment circuit. He is constantly in demand from many cruise lines, including P & O, Airtours and many other well known holiday companies where his clean, immaculately presented comedy is appreciated by all.

Corporate Entertainer & After Dinner Speaker
One of the most versatile entertainers today, Martin is perhaps best known for his performances from the top table. His ability to deliver a corporate speech to a corporate audience without a trace of smut or bad language makes him without doubt one of the most popular after dinner speakers in the country. Martin leaves behind him a number of satisfield clients including IBM, Rentokil, BT, HBOS and DAF.

Martin has also proved a big hit on the "Sportsman's Dinner" circuit, and regularly works alongside such sporting legends as Fred Trueman, Jack Charlton, Jimmy Greaves, Bill Beaumont and John Conteh.

TV presenter, warm up comedian and actor
Martin has enjoyed a lifetime in television, since his early days in "Summertime Special" to his regular appearances on the "New Comedians." He has presented appeared on, and warmed up audiences for such programmes as "This Is Your Life" with Michael Aspel, "This Is My Moment" with Melanie B, "Crosswits" with Tom O Connor, "Through the Keyhole", "This Morning" and "The Football Show." Martin has presented a number of corporate videos, and accepted his first pantomime role in 2001, starring alongside Toyah Wilcox in Aladdin. He is also a popular guest on countless radio shows.

Recent testimonials
"I mentioned last week that I would be featuring some-one who is (in my opinion) going places. Let me introduce to you comedian Martin Gold, a Variety Club Award Winner".

Political correctness is one luxury that comedians cannot afford because if such a subject was to be adhered to there would not be any comics about. Bearing this in mind members of the audience could not have cared less about such niceties when Martin appeared.
Professional in every respect, it was obvious from the start that Martin had not merely learnt his script and spilled forth in parrot fashion - he is 'a natural' and believe you me nothing is spared from his good-natured 'verbal abuse'. Frankly, I could not fault this artiste at all, his content, delivery and stage personality were quite brilliant and I was sorry when his show came to a close.

This was the best act I have seen at this particular function and in all honesty, the best comedian I have seen anywhere in many a year. Thanks Martin, from us all."

"Martin had to follow me and Alec Stewart at a cricket dinner, which is obviously a bit like singing after Sinatra and Dean Martin. It was midnight before he got on, but he turned it round brilliantly and had a bunch of drunk cynical cricketers laughing their heads off. I thought his act was sharp and very funny." Piers Morgan, Editor, The Mirror

"Martin judged his audience perfectly in terms of content and pace and immediately had everyone in stitches. He was the highlight of our evening and I would recommend him unreservedly." Sally Geddes, Initial Rentokil plc

"Everybody I spoke to commented on what an enjoyable evening they had had without a "Blue" word being spoken. I would definitely have no hesitation in recommending you." Kevin Evans, Nottinghamshire County CC

"I am writing to you in appreciation of Martin Gold's efforts and, in particular, congratulate him on a good clean performance. His act was well balanced without any vulgarity, swearing or smutty comments - well done and many thanks." DC Hill, Humberside Police

"It would be appreciated if you could pass on our thanks to Martin who performed at Rawdon Golf Club on Saturday night. Everybody who attended had a fantastic time and all agreed that he was one of the best performers we have had. I will certainly recommend him to other golf clubs." Simon Lax, Chairman, Rawdon Golf Club

"A star in the making, one of the best things to happen to Jersey."

"Top class comedy entertainment - dispatched a battery of jokes gratefully acknowledged by the audience which he had eating out of his hand almost as soon as he came on stage.." The Stage & Television Today

"Coming highly recommended, Martin Gold is a comedian of the highest calibre. He commands his audience whatever age and on every level within seconds of walking on stage. His razor sharp wit, not to mention his immaculate appearance leaves his audience aching for more. After booking Martin on a number of occasions, I can say without fear of contradiction that he is nothing short of "The Consummate performer."" Chris Barnes, General Manager, Chesterfield Hotel

"Martin was first time with us and was first class. I would like to book him again. A breath of fresh air." Ken Sutton, Unsworth CC

"On behalf of Pocklington RUFC I would like to thank Martin Gold for his excellent entertainment at our recent club dinner. Although I personally cannot remember a thing he said due to' slight over consumption', the feedback from everyone was very complimentary." Tim Bradshaw, Pocklington RUFC
