Jon Reed

Being withdrawn from school for a month because he thought he was shrinking has not hindered Jon Reed’s career in comedy. Described as a "quirky physical comedian" (Funny Business, ITV) Jon Reed combines influences such as theatre, a love of film, and popular culture to produce an uncompromising, imaginative and extravagantly absurd world view.

Jon's star is definitely in the ascendancy - his highly original act is difficult to describe. You've never seen anything like this spectacular multi-media extravaganza of sheer lunacy. He won the Hackney Empire New Act Award in 1997 and was shortlisted for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award the following year. A hit at the 1999 Edinburgh or Bust, The Johnny Vegas Television Show (which he co-wrote) and Channel 4's Gas.

"Truly madly funny. Not so much a stream of consciousness as a tidal wave of deranged brilliance." - The Express

"The closest thing yet seen to a Terry Gilliam cartoon live on stage - incredibly funny and oddly disturbing." - The Times

"Consistently challenging new thinking - watch him closely - an original mind at work." - Phil Gibby, The Stage
