Ian Macpherson

In March 2003 the Guardian Guide said 'It's hard to imagine alternative comedy ever happening without stand-up pioneers such as Ian Macpherson.' In the years since Macpherson started performing in the London clubs he's written TV, stage and radio plays, a short film for Channel 4, a comic novel - 'The funniest book I've ever read' (Irish Times) - and written and performed five Edinburgh Festival one-man shows. He also won the first Time Out award for comedy and has performed at the London International Festival of Theatre, the Dublin Theatre Festival and Carnegie Hall.

He recently returned to stand-up and is presently writing a new one-man show, 'Macpherson's Lament'. He then embarks on a world tour with warm-up act 'ian macpherson supports himself'.

When not performing he passes the time writing, reminiscing, and polishing his many awards.

'The godfather of leftfield Irish comedy' - Hot Press.

'One of the most creative and intelligent comedians I've ever seen' - Guardian.
