Fast paced and irreverent Gein’s Family Giftshop have been honing their skills in the North on the stand-up comedy circuit and as such have an enviable gag rate and a stage presence that more established groups can only dream of. Their unique brand of gag heavy writing and gleeful live performances have given the group a core of loyal followers. The group formed in 2012 after graduating from the University of Salford. Exasperated with the sketch scene as they saw it they got together with the intention of creating original and engaging sketch comedy that never forgets the punchline. Dark and absurd in tone this quartet marry the tragic with the hilarious as they apply their warped world vision to the hilarious subject matter of abject misery and human tragedy. Their stripped down approach to live performance, with minimal props and sound, allows the writing and the performances to take centre stage, just as it should be. A great appreciation for film, in particular horror, seeps into their recorded work with sketches that are as beautiful as they are hilarious. This is a sketch group that aren’t for the faint hearted, but are for you, you just don’t know it yet.
