Gareth Wilson

Gareth "Willy" Wilson is fast becoming a star on the stand-up circuit. His unique brand of observational, anecdotal, sometimes surreal comedy has proved a hit with audiences up and down the country. He performed his first gig in January 2002 and by August of that year had won the only competition he has entered - the Amused and Abused New Act competition. (2001 winner - Nina Conti). He has shunned the televised competitons since then. He decided to wait until he had a solid 20 minute act together before going in for the big competitions. He has been performing opening 20s at clubs up and down the country and is now taking his act to the big clubs. He was winner of the Gong Show at the Comedy Store in London in August 2003 and has performed at every Gong show since trying out different material each time. He has yet to be gonged.

He is still doing open spots at the bigger clubs but is headlining smaller venues and opening at medium sized venues.

Definately one to watch for the future.

"fast-paced delivery mixed with dry wit and sharp one-liners that peppered his quirky anecdotes left us in fits of giggles", Tori Crowther - Theatre Royal Stratford East

"very sharp witted. His set was full of genuine belly-laughs which is rare for a newer act" Jim Grant - Oi Oi Eastbourne

"modern comedy with plenty of well-crafted punchlines" Dan Willis, former Perrier panelist
