As all comics know, it's not about making a room full of strangers laugh despite themselves. Comedy is all about competitions, and in this arena David is a perennial semi finalist, having reached no fewer than two semi finals in the last year. Needless to say both times he was robbed, but thankfully he is not bitter.
Far from it.
David is a regular performer at clubs around London and the country, in fact were there to be run a competition entitled 'What Clubs Have You Played?' David could be assured of at least a semi final placing. He's frequently to be seen at ED Comedy in South London where he recently appeared with Mark Thomas, he's appeared at Cheeky Monkey in Birmingham with Bob Mills and once gave Simon Munnery a lift to Huddersfield and back, earning him a prestigeous 'silver medal' in the national 'I've Driven Simon Munnery too ' awards.
David is also a writer having taken the highly acclaimed sketch show 'Godliman & Lane' to Edinburgh in 2006 with Kerry Godliman. The pair were disappointed when they failed to make the finals of Radio 4's '28 Acts in 28 Minutes' only later discovering that it's not a competition, as the name clearly implies. As a writer David is now represented by The Rod Hall Agency and continues to provide material and scripts for both BBC Radio and Television and independent productions.
