Warren
Speed Warren
Speed has been performing on the UK comedy circuit since 2000. His high energy,
physical style of comedy always gets an audience laughing and he has a number
of memorable routines. Also adept as a compere, Warren's charisma and quick witted
improvisational skills allow him to go with the flow of the crowd and find humour
wherever the conversation may lead. Warren
began perfoming stand-up comedy after deciding he needed an outlet for his exhibitionism.
When he first started he was frequently seen onstage in a pink bikini, although
thankfully it has now been a few years since he has worn it! Before entering the
world of comedy Warren was variously employed as a printer, a probation officer,
a music journalist, a bassist in a rock band, and a door-to-door Avon sales rep
where he had much fun selling make-up, bras and knickers to bored housewives.
Although proud of his North Yorkshire heritage Warren never takes himself
too seriously and loves to have a few sly digs at the traditional way of life
in the local village where he was brought up. Now based in Newcastle Upon Tyne,
Warren regularly travels the length and breadth of the UK performing and one day
hopes to actually make some constructive use of all the time he spends in his
car (instead of just listening to non-stop rock music). Besides performing
comedy, Warren is also director of Funny Bones Comedy who organise the Newcastle
Gateshead comedy festival, and promote many live stand-up shows around the country
(see www.funnybonescomedy.co.uk for more info). Warren
has also performed stand-up at many corporate, private and university gigs, as
well as hosting the likes of the Great North Run, "The Battleground"
(kickboxing competition), Student balls, speed-dating nights, and many nightclub
party events. Press
