Toby Brown

Toby Brown is a Westcountry-born, London-based comedian, who has been cutting a swathe through the comedy circuit since 2007. He has worked as a paid act all over the country, delighting audiences with his quick wit, hilarious anecdotes and polished punchlines, being especially in demand as a fearless, capable MC.

An eternal optimist who is constantly disappointed by both life and the people who live it, Toby has an energetic and engaging stage presence, and is skilled at audience interaction, which has led to him being a finalist in both the Amused Moose Laugh Off 2012, Bath New Act of the Year 2010 and winning both King Gong at Comedy Store and the Comedy Cafe new acts night.

Toby has gone down a storm as a paid act at venues including CKP gigs, various Mirth Control venues (MC'ing and Opening), Buzz Comedy, BBC Comedy, Hampstead Comedy Club, Shaggers, Southeast Kent Comedy, Cotswold Comedy, Joke Klub, Wrong Comedy, Pear Shaped, Empire Comedy, The Miller, Sal Monello's Comedy Club, Joker Club, the Leicester Square Theater New Acts Competition and closing the comedy stage at the Sonisphere metal festival.

He can also often be found at The Comedy Store (Manchester and London), Up The Creek, Highlight, Brighton Komedia, Bearcat Comedy, Laughing Horse venues, The Comedy Cafe and Downstairs at The Kings Head.

Onstage, Toby is fearless, charming, incisive, and very very funny.

"Like Jimmy Carr when he was actually fresh and funny... I hope he stays away from Channel 4's quiz shows." - Three Weeks

“Toby thawed our traditionally friendly but chilly Monday night crowd, succeeding where many have failed, with a skillful blend of endearing banter and accessible storytelling which morphed seamlessly into his sharper, more disarming gags. A naturally funny man who set the night up to succeed." Rob Thomas, Laughbag at the Hungry Miller

"The lovely Toby Brown opened for us with a great set that had the audience eating out of his hand from the word go." Cotswold Comedy Clubs

"What you need and desire from the best of MC's - quick wit, hilarious anecdotes and affable affection for the audience." - Clap Trap Comedy

"His jokes rarely misfire. He has excellent timing and a strong sense of the audience."- Three Weeks
