Simon Kennedy

Simon Kennedy managed not to lose money at his first Melbourne International Comedy Festival show "Fishing for Cigars" in 2001 at Melbourne's classy Chaise Lounge.

2002 was a very fruitful year for Simon with a successful one-man show "The Angina Monologues" at Sydney's famed Old Fitzroy Hotel Theatre; the show was also a feature at the 2002 Melbourne Fringe Festival. In 2003, Simon starred in "The Show With No Name - Live" at Sydney's "Big Laugh Comedy Festival".

Besides being a fixture on Australia's stand-up comedy circuit, Simon can occasionally be seen treading the boards in efforts such as "The Theatre Sports Celebrity Challenge" at Sydney's Enmore Theatre.

Also "Simon Kennedy Stands Up! (with a Slice of Bevan)" is a feature on the 2006/2007 season program at Brisbane's Powerhouse Theatre.

For 4 years Simon has hosted "The Show With No Name" with comedian Steve Philp, on Nova 96.9fm (Sunday nights), until a name change and a higher profile slot in 2005 saw the birth of "Kennedy & Philp" Nova's Saturday morning Breakfast Show (7am - 9am). Now, Simon co-hosts "The Nova 9s with Simon & Justine" on Brisbane's Nova 106.9fm.

Simon has won 2 Commercial Radio Industry Awards (ACRAs) for Sketch Comedy and Radio Production, and has subsequently been featured as a regular wit and character voice specialist on radio stations across the country. Simon is "the guy who does the funny stuff between the songs on Nova"; in fact he is the resident comedy writer/character voice in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.

Simon's TV appearances in Australia include The Today Show (Channel 9), Canadian Comedy Club (The Comedy Channel), Joker Poker Series 1 & 2 (Channel 10), and with his bald cat on Harry's Practice (Channel 7), as well as numerous short films and television commercials for the UK and Australia.

Most recently Simon's talents as a voice actor have seen him playing Saddam Hussein, Michael Jackson, and Justin Timberlake in the animated short-film "Atonement Tonight" to be screened in cinemas and film festivals across the US. Also look out for Simon as the voice of a Winston Churchill-esque British Bull-Dog in the up-coming short feature "The Adventures of Roman Pilgrim".
