Sharon Race

Sharon is a writer and performer, and whilst relatively new to the stand up circuit, has already established herself as a crowd pleaser with her eclectic mix of every day, eye brow and hair raising stories. She is a firm favourite with students and grannies alike who warm to her Geordie charm.

As a writer she was runner up with the TAPS national sit com writing showcase (TAPS  the national organisation that seeks out potential TV writers), as well short listed for the TAPS North Eastern showcase. Her comedy plays have run at Newcastle’s Live Theatre.

Sharon’s comedy short, View of the Spider, following the life Dawn, of a pro-female boxer, was premiered at the New York International Film & Video Festival, Hollywood, September 2007 and was shortlisted for:

Best International Short
Best International Short
Best Comedy Actor
Best  International Director

As well as similarly shortlisted at the New York International Film & Video Festival, New York, March 2008.

A regular at Long Live Comedy and various gigs around the North and Scotland, Sharon is happy doing 10 - 20 min sets; has played Gavin Webster's new material night regularly at the Hyena Cafe and runs Laughing Lasses, an all female stand up night in Newcastle.
