Sajeela Kershi

SAJEELA KERSHI is hugely likeable on stage, her bubbly, excitable brand of humour helps to defuse some of her more edgy, risque material. Her subject matter ranges from fanciful, topical and personal to her experiences of being caught between two cultures.

Sajeela has been performing  stand-up  since 2006 all over the uk and abroad, including the 1st ever comedy gig on a punt at the cambridge festival, on a moving double decker bus at the Edinburgh festival and on a mock beach in the middle of Birmingham town centre. She was also part of a group of comedians to perform the 1st every comedy tour of the  Scilly Isles.

In 2008 alone Sajeela performed at 6 festivals including Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Montreal just for laughs festival where she not only supported international acts was a headline act at the Comedy Nest  and was even asked back by the club. Sajeela is a competent Mc/hostess, and is resident Mc at her own Award winning successful comedy club night in Redhill, Surrey, 'Comedy at the Cottage'.

As a stand-up she has already been involved in a successful 3 hand show in edinburgh in 2007, Pretty Dirty Things, and a 2 hand show in edinburgh 2008 called RACE/OFF and is at present preparing for her first solo show 'BITCH GOT OWNED!'

She recently featured on BBC Radio 4's programme 'no job for an asian' together with other comics like sanjeev basghir, paul sinah and paul chowdary and was described as a 'rising star'..

Sajeela has appeared in the last 2 seasons of ITV's Comedy Cuts, with If.Comedy award winners Tom Basden and Scott Cuppurro. At present she is working on a sketch show with fellow writing partner Yasmeen Khan.

Within the industry she is probably most notorious for starring in the most talked about If.Comedy Award winning show of 2007. 'So i suppose this is offensive now' which saw her touring in packed houses abroad and the UK, places which include venues such as the pleasance grand (Edinburgh), the west end Garrick Theatre , The soho arts theatre and the Duchess theatre for the filmed dvd of the show in question. Her performance was praised by critics and audiences alike - "Sajeela and Steve, the real stars of the show" BRENDON BURNS
