Ryan Gough

Ryan performed his first gig in December 2000, jumping up on a comedy club stage to deputise for his mate who 'bottled it' at the last minute. As the compere introduced his nervous friends name, he bolted into the Gents and Ryan took the mike and treated the small Birmingham crowd to an improvised routine about the boredom of his job at the time.

Over three years and two hundred gigs later, Ryan has now graduated to a regular circuit act, performing at every comedy club from Newcastle to Plymouth. Being 6 foot 5 inches tall and touching on nineteen stone with a shaved head, a lazy eye and his trademark black leather coat, Ryan can look scary, intimidating and agressive. But nothing can be further from the truth, Ryan's friendly banter with the audience makes him an ideal compere. Whether it is encouraging the audience to singalong with various 1980's adverts or one-hit-wonders from the 1970's, Ryan can warm up the dullest of rooms and wake up the most moribund of audiences. His material is autobiographical, regional (he researches for his "away from home gigs"), self-deprecating, sarcastic, laconic with the odd knob-gag squeezed in for good measure. Recently, he has MC'ed for Daniel Kitson, Reginald D.Hunter and Mitch Benn.

Ryan's current paid work includes:

Downstairs at The Kings Head. (Thursday night new act MC)
Alexanders, Chester.
GSOH Comedy, London
Ship-of-Fools, Leicester

He has also done succesful opens with the big boys ! Tens at Jongleurs (Camden), Comedy Store (Manchester) and Glee Club (Birmingham).

Always keeping busy, he is also an experienced Radio Broadcaster and is a regular on BBC Radio WM as well as having numerous TV Credits !

"A powerful stage presence, Gough can quickly fire a room with energy, which makes him especially useful as a compere.Material-wise, he’s solid, with the strongest gags directed at his own stature and demeanour - especially how his burly look doesn’t match his friendly matter". C
