"Like Simon Munnery but more nervous" - Magi Gibson
Robert Wringham is fairly new to standup but has been working in theatre for years and has been ecking away a reputation as a humourist in magazines such as The Idler, Meat and his very own magazine The New Escapologist. His act is affected and sweet but with a surreal edge of bitterness and paranoia.
As a Brummie who has never performed in the Midlands (aside from one misguided set at the Birmingham Hippodrome circa 1998) he always comes across as a lumbering fish out of water.
He can usually be seen doing short sets and disjointed test material around Glasgow at venues such as The Stand, Cafe Rio, Tchai Ovna and at the new comedy/poetry club night DiScOmbObUlaTe at Cabbage and Kings.
His new autobiographical headline standup show is called The Crinkle-Cut Man. It debuts at the 2008 Glasgow International Comedy Festival in the beautifully eccentric Britannia Panopticon Music Hall. The words from his horrible gob will be accompanied by the sweet guitar stylings of David Malone.
