York based newcomer Paul Schmitz has had numerous occupations in his time from a roofer during the hurricanes of the early 90’s to a Civil (and at times uncivil) servant. Since his debut in September 2006 he has been doing paid and open spots mainly on the northern circuit with material ranging from outright buffoonery to controversial quips knitted together with the look of a fashionable yet deranged scientist. Forced into comedy for a secondary income by his ever suffering mother after the comment ‘you’ll never have any money as long as you’ve got a hole in your arse!’ Paul’s jaunty observations tackled from unusual angles and surreal one-liners are the mainstay of his act which leads him to be described as ‘refreshingly silly’ by the local press. He’s a true exciting newcomer to the scene so get him while he’s cheap.
Also heavily involved in writing and performing sketch comedy and currently performing his Fruit bat lectures at 1331 Gastrobar in York, and he also informs me co-founder of ‘York Militant Knitting League’.
