Papa CJ

Papa CJ is an Indian comedian who has earned 'street-cred' by repeatedly demonstrating cutting edge wit reflected in entertaining delivery and is storming rooms across the United Kingdom.

Star of Paramount Comedy's The World Stands Up, Papa CJ has conquered milestone after milestone at an astonishing pace on the UK circuit. He has worked in the best comedy clubs in the country, tamed the intimidating audiences of the King Gong Show at the Comedy Store in London and successfully closed a rowdy, full-house Late 'n' Live on the final weekend of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Papa CJ is rumoured to be a direct descendent of the Maharaja of Merebaapkaraj (pronounced Mere-baap-ka-raj) in India. The young prince has scaled an 18,000 ft peak in the Himalayas, trekked into the Grand Canyon, flown paragliders and jumped out of an airplane. The qualities that come with these turfs are reflected in his performance and one reviewer had described him as "possessing the energy and attitude of an Indian Chris Rock".

A performer with a conscience, Papa CJ has also set up the charity, 'One Child', which provides for the education, health and overall development of children in rural India. He works with a fellow Director to raise awareness and funds for this organisation, whose work covers formal and informal education, child and women's health, microfinance and disaster preparedness.

QUOTES:

"Possessing the energy and attitiude of an Indian Chris Rock" - Derek O'Brien, Frog and Bucket Manchester

"Caustic observations" - Metro, Edinburgh Fringe

"Papa CJ's material is fresh and up to the minute with a sly sting in the tail" - Louise Hill, The British Theatre Guide

"His confident, mock confrontational approach was very funny and he had the material to back it up. To take on and berate your audience while making them cry with laughter shows a supreme confidence and he had it in spades." - Nic Colon, Funny Bone Comedy Club

"The guests were treated to a comic session by Papa CJ, who made sure that the audience didn't stop laughing and clapping." - The Times of India

"He had the crowd laughing almost instantly" - XS Malarkey

"Unbelieveable quite frankly…the confidence and self-assuredness of a veteran comic" - John Murphy, Last Laugh Sheffield

"…was magically different from anything we had…a worthy treat and his story about the beggar was worth the admission price alone" - Comedy Club Committee, Essex University Comedy Club

"Comedy gold!" - Lateef Lovejoy, Theatre Royal, Stratford
