Mike Bubbins

Previously a PE teacher by ‘profession’, Mike grew tired of the criticism constantly levelled at him by colleagues, for only owning one pair of trainers and refusing to wear a tracksuit socially. Consequently he hung up his whistle and made the leap into comedy in 2008.

Since then he has rapidly become a favourite on the stand-up circuit, performing regularly at comedy clubs, theatres and universities across the UK. He also writes a daily blog for walesonline and is a regular guest comedian on BBC Radio Wales. In 2009 he performed his debut one-man show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim, Fringe review publication Three Weeks describing him as ‘compelling’ and ‘genuinely funny’.

Fortunately for Mike, years of failed relationships, public humiliation, extreme frustration, chronic impatience, and challenging friendships, have resulted in a well stocked comedy library for him to delve into. He combines this wealth of material with a relaxed, confident delivery, and a natural warmth and charm, to create a special connection between him and the audience.

To date, Mike has been happy to take his views on the obscure, the worrying, the embarrassing and the downright pointless, to just about anywhere, firmly believing in the tenet that ‘No job is too small!’*
