Mark
Stevenson
Mark finds quantum physics and number theory hilarious. He is single.
Simply put, there are very few acts who weave neuroscience research into
a routine and make it laugh-out-loud funny. Mark is probably the only
comic you'll hear reference number theorist Kurt Gödel and Harry
Potter's anus in the same routine and certainly the only one to have his
own scientific advisory board.
• Example review (national): "A rare ability. Stevenson takes the clever
stuff and makes it funny." - Irish Independent
• Example review (regional): "Brilliant observations and comic timing."
- Lichfield Mercury
Within six months of taking up comedy Mark found himself with two top
literary agents, writing for Talkback Thames and sharing stages with the
likes of Arthur Smith, Tony Hawks and Mark Steele. Currently completing
his first book (out in 2009), first play (at Edinburgh 2009) and heart
attack (imminent) he continues to gig, gaining both confidence and
petrol receipts.
Jack Milner (one of the UK's foremost comedy coaches) had this to say
after seeing Mark tackle gags about pharmaceutical research in the back
room of an East End pub:
"Mark Stevenson is quite simply one of the funniest, cleverest and most
naturally gifted new stand ups I have ever seen. Horribly intelligent,
he is one of those irritating people who without even trying can
instantly come up with a funny for any situation. His style of comedy is
quirky, sometimes observational, always charming, with that ability to
come up with the devastating one-liner that you just wished you'd
thought of first."
And thankfully for promoters, he’s reliable:
"What a great performance. Mark Stevenson is something different. Both
engaging and entertaining he had the audience instantly warming to his
unusual combination of wit and wisdom. Stevenson makes a refreshing
change that will give any comedy show an additional and complementary
facet. Punctual, polite and very funny he is welcome back any time." –
