Sandiford 'Laura
Sandiford is no longer the Goddess- in-Training it says on her business card,
but a full-fledged Goddess!' Georgia Straight Vancouver, BC Being the world's
only African-Barbadian, British-Canadian comedian is a tough job but she's charming
her way into the hearts of audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. She began
her rocky relationship with comedy full time 2 years ago in Vancouver and hasn't
looked back since! Why? 'Comedy is the only job I've never been fired from!' she
laments. Since
landing in the UK, Laura has been running the gauntlet of clubs. She's been a
Finalist in the Paramount Comedy Competition 2003, Finalist in the King Gong at
the Comedy Store and won the New Act Competition at the Comedy Café. She's
also been on BBC World Radio, was a Panellist on The Last Word, Carlton Studios
and Pilau Talk, Anglia Television. Most recently, Laura was at the Comedy Cavern
(voted on Chortle venue of the year 2004) in Bath as the opening act! Back
in Vancouver, most of her time was either spent auditioning for Film and TV or
doing comedy. She's done voice-overs for Radio and TV Ads, Independent Films,
some Motion Capture for NBA Street 2 and numerous Theatre Productions to name
just a few of her talents. Her dream though, is to perform at Edinburgh Fringe
Festival. I think she's here to stay! |
