Kevin Dewsbury

Kevin knew he was destined to be a stand-up comedian when at the age of just 8 months he fell ten feet down a stairwell and banged his head on a newspaper rack. Because of this people have been laughing at him ever since.

He grew up in a small village in Cheshire called Barnton where you'll find a library, a chip shop and some houses. He remained there until he was 18 when he discovered a road across the Pennines, which led to the mystic land of Huddersfield.

Although a couple of degrees colder, Huddersfield had more to offer young Kevin, for a start they had more chip shops and a course at the University in theatre studies. Whilst he was there he acted in and directed various productions in between cavorting merrily with the locals and students alike. He also joined the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain playing numerous roles and in doing so was involved in more cavorting and sell out shows performed to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival and the Battersea Arts Centre, London. Following this he went on to prance about for another year at the Central School of Speech and Drama and proved himself as a talented straight actor. However, years of being told what to do by other people led him astray to the stand up circuit and in a relatively short time he made his way quickly through the ranks of aspiring stand ups to the final of the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year and now Kevin performs all over the UK at clubs including The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, universities and festivals.

As soon as he steps on stage the audience quickly realise they are in the company of a natural born performer. His material ranges from storytelling, observations on daily life and killer one liners. He is also faultless at mimicking accents. Due to his impeccable comic timing Kevin is guaranteed to leave crowds wanting more of his top-notch humour and because of this, he was snapped up to perform at the Edinburgh Festival in the sell out 'Big Value Comedy Late Show' 2004 and has recently completed a national tour with 'Joke Machine' Tim Vine. He is also constantly sought after for his acting work, most recently appearing in an advert for Nat West Student Bank Accounts and is currently working on a television project with Perrier Newcomer Will Hodgson

"An excellent comedian who doesn't get the recognition he deserves, which is scandalous, one of the most underrated comics on the circuit, a great headline performance." - Toby Foster (Grinreaper.co.uk)

'Cracking Stand up, smashing, funky, lively, remarkable, individual and fresh' - Three Weeks
