John won the 25th International Mr Leather contest in Chicago in May 2003 (the only Briton ever to have won the title). He turned to stand-up comedy in 2010 and since then has performed 1000 gigs across the UK from Falmouth to Edinburgh.

John tailors his material for different audiences and has experience ranging from university students to rural village halls, and military bases to fetish events. Paid work includes The Stand Comedy Clubs, Manchester Comedy Store, Barnstormers, Manford’s, Amused Moose, Downstairs at the Kings Head, Custard Comedy and many independent promoters (e.g. Chris Brooker, Rob Riley). Festival work includes The Big Weekend in Cambridge and Folsom Europe in Berlin.

John was a finalist in the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year 2015 and Old Comedian of the Year 2016 competitions. He has also been the MC for Mr Chicago Leather every year since 2004 and returned to co-host International Mr Leather in 2012. He has been interviewed on-screen for two feature film documentaries: Kink Crusaders and Age of Consent, and tied up Michael Fassbender in the film Assassins Creed.
