James Mullinger

James Mullinger began his stand up career in January 2005. In his first eighteen months he excelled himself, most notably by reaching the final of three major comedy competitions. They were: Jimmy Carr's Comedy Idol (which resulted in a performance alongside Carr at The Comedy Store that appeared on Carr's DVD 'Stand Up'), You Must Be Joking at the Newbury Comedy Festival and Your Comedy Stars at the Edinburgh Festival.

In July 2005 James performed at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. Canada's best-selling newspaper The National Post described him as "a dashing comic". The following February he performed at the Leicester Comedy Festival. In July 2006 he returned to the Just For Laughs festival to take part in the annual Just For Pitching event where he pitched his sitcom, Success (co-written with Julian Tuddenham and Robert Bound). The script for the pilot is currently being read by various international television executives. Other writing credits include the 4 Radio Weekly Show hosted by Frankie Boyle and Mark Dolan.

James continues to perform in the UK (in Edinburgh, Southampton, Totton, Liverpool, Leicester, Bristol, Nottingham) and around the world. In 2006 he appeared in a weekend of shows at The Laugh Garage in Sydney, Australia. That same year he appeared on UKTV G2 comedy panel show Street Cred Sudoku. James was the guest comedian on Robin Ince's team. Clips from the show can be seen on You Tube. You may also have seen him hosting a viral clip show on cable channel Sumo TV.

James is currently resident compere of the Electric Mouse comedy club at the King's Head Theatre in Islington. Recent headliners include Richard Herring, Stephen Merchant, Scott Capurro, Lucy Porter and Jarred Christmas. He’s also resident host at the monthly comedy club at Theatre 503 in Battersea and Upstairs at the Masons in Mayfair.

Press quotes

"Mullinger is definitely what could be called a young up and coming stand-up comic. He is a fairly autobiographical stand-up comic with a penchant for some dark material. If this British stand-up comic at Just For Laughs next year, I will make a point of catching him. Then again, if things go as well as I think they will, he will be part of one or two of the showcase shows I like to attend. If you can catch this comedian at a club near you, do so." - www.theseriouscomedysite.com
