Hazel Humphreys

"Hazel first started performing stand-up comedy in the summer of 2003. Despite her status as a relative newcomer she has attracted the attention of promoters with her mixture of sharp observational/topical humour, storytelling and playful smut.
So far to date (November 2004) Hazel has played at many venues around the UK including the following:

London: Comedy Café, Aardvark Club, Wiseguys, 99 Club, The Grin Reaper, Laughing Horse, Ginglik (Shephards Bush Green), Comedy Store (gong show).
She is a regular at "Stand Up With Jamie" at the Blush Bar, Stoke Newington.

Rest of UK: XS Malarkeys (Manchester), The Laughterhouse (Liverpool), The Stand (Edinburgh & Glasgow) University of Essex Comedy Club, Barrel O Larfs(Chelmsford), Coggeshall Comedy Club (as support act and MC), Barge Inn (Eccles)

Hazel co-runs Wivenhoe Funny Farm (established 2005) and Colchester Funny Farm (established 2007) with fellow comedian Tony Cowards.

During Summer 2007 Hazel worked as assistant producer on two two-week comedy shows in Central London.

In October 2003, she took part in Stand-Up 150, a charity event at the Dancehouse Theatre, Manchester which broke the Guinness world record for the most comedy acts in a line up. The final number was 127, she was number 83, and will tirelessly annoy her friends and family with this information as soon as this event is mentioned in the Book of Records.

Since January 2004 Hazel has been the main organiser of the Essex University Comedy Club which runs monthly comedy nights during term-time.

In March 2004, she came joint first in the Liverpool heat of the Jongleurs j20 competition.

In September 2003 Hazel played two supporting roles in a production of Macbeth at the Mercury Theatre in Colchester.

Quotes
" A cute bundle of sugar-coated vitriol " - Promoter - Aardvark Comedy Club, London

"Very funny, some wicked lines and a lot of personality." - Promoter - The Comedy Box, London

"Hazel Humphreys is the new princess of smut. Her cheeky stories delighted a naughty crowd, and easily merited the virtual red warning triangle she carries with her as a matter of course. She revelled in stories of cannibalism, the porn industry in Germany, how to rate dates (a result if they bother to bring their own Rohypnol), interesting piercings and downstairs haircuts." - Promoter - Stand-Up With Jamie, Blush Bar, London.
