An experienced MC, or a solid addition to any bill, Davey Johnson always
manages to win audiences over with his blend of observations which range
from silly & absurd to downright sick & twisted.
A confused cockney with a slightly lopsided & ill-informed viewpoint
fell into perfoming stand up comedy after many years of live experience
both as a musician & compére of musical events. A chequered
professional past, with jobs ranging from lifeguard to zoo keeper (&
just about everything else in between) have provided a wealth of material
along with a carefree stage demeanour. "I always remember from
the early open mic gigs all of the other acts hating the rough nights,
whereas I would relish the fact that the audience wanted blood. It made
it more of a challenge, & a completely fulfilling experience to
scream abuse at hecklers until they shut up & listened to us. They
worse the audience were to the rest of the bill, the more I would get
stuck into them - I felt like a comic vigilante."
