Dan Smith

After many years of dreaming and self denial, 2001 finally saw Dan Smith pluck up the courage to drag his scrawny frame on stage and enter the dark world of stand up comedy.Since then he has finely tuned his performance to a professional and highly entertaining level having played in excess of 400 gigs throughout the country including:

Ashton Court Festival (Bristol), Bear Tavern (Birmingham), The Buzz (Manchester), Comedy Kav (Birmingham), Frog and Bucket (Manchester-won "Beat the frog" show), Jesters (Bristol), Laughing Horse (Various locations), Mac (Birmingham), Rawhide (Liverpool), XS Malarkey (Manchester)

His lively mixture of topical material, audience banter and observational quirkiness also lends itself perfectly to compering and in addition to hosting his own comedy nights in the West Midlands and being resident compere at Stourbridge's Kumanavaloff he also regularly MC's for other venues including
Comedy @ the Bear (Birmingham)
Comedy Kav (Birmingham)
Cox's Yard (Stratford)
Carey's (Coventry - For Buzz Comedy)
Swansea University (For Off the Kerb/Paramount Comedy)
Kill For a Seat (Oxford)
Little Civic (Wolverhampton)

Dan has also written and appeared in "Bread and Circuses" - a fast paced and energetic sketch show which sold out several nights during 2003/04 at the Birmingham's Glee Club, Midland Arts Centre and Library Theatre.

As well as increasing audience praise Dan has also received a great deal of positive feedback from acts, press and promoters:
"Dan's timing and delivery are flawless…one to watch for the future"(XS Malarkey)
"Totally funny, funny, funny" (Hilarious)
"A great compere…really complemented the acts"(Donna McPhail)
"Great, relaxed stage presence" (Rob Rouse)
"Really good material" (Robin Ince)
"Walsall's Frank Skinner"(Walsall Observer)
Rumours that Frank Skinner is being referred to as "Oldbury's Dan Smith" are as yet unfounded.
