"Intelligent smart comedy noir. One to keep an eye on. This guy has the potential for the big time,best original comedy I've seen " -LEE SIGERSON, VENUE MANAGER CARDIFF GLEE CLUB.
After a chance meeting with a comic in a pub, Brendan Common was asked to do his first gig as open spot alongside some established Cardiff acts.
Following that success he became a regular performer on the South Wales circuit incluing multiple bookings at Drones Comedy Club in Chapter Arts Centre.
With just 15 gigs under his belt, he qualified for the Edinbugh semifinal of "So You Think You're Funny?", the legendary competition that produced winners such as Dylan Moran, Lee Mack and David O'Doherty. It saw Brendan performing at the prestigious Gilded Balloon Wine Bar.
Since then, he has gone on to develop a unique stage persona, supported by his material which jumps quickly from light to dark, matching his unusal demeanor.
This earned him a place as a finalist in the Welsh Unsigned Standup Award at the Cardiff Glee Club in 2013, and being mentioned personally by the winner, Simon Emanuel,
on the Rhod Gilbert radio show as "one to watch."
Open spots on professional nights have included;
The clowns pocket, Neath, with comedian and promoter Paul James. Comedy Den, Cardiff, supporting Matt Rees.
He performs regulary with with Comedy Sheep productions, including paid work for
Christmas specials at Cardiff Glee club and Swansea YMCA theatre.
"Brendan Common was one of the evening highlights. He likes to wear alot of black, his skin is pale and his intelligent humour flowed smoothly. He looks like a Tim Burton Character, but sounds like the quiet boy at school who becomes an Oscar-winning documentary maker- you know, brilliant with no hint of knowing it. Come and see him next time, so you too will be able to say, I saw him in the early days." -CYMRUCULTURE
'Winding through complex eerie channels of suppressed astonishment, this is the sort of comedy education you cannot pay for because it rarely exists'
-SCOTT FITZGERALD, DIRECTOR OF CARDIFF COMEDY FESTIVAL
"Appearances are deceptive. Brendan Common may appear as if he has the darkest of tales to tell but you'll be surprised by the bizarre richness of his alternative worldview.
Hilarious dichotomies abounded in a set that underlined his promise as one of the most eminently watchable new comedians in Wales.
It can surely only be a matter of time before the geek shall inherit the earth."- DAVE OWENS, THE WELSH UNSIGNED STAND UP AWARD.
"A genuine antidote to mainstream stand-up. Firing viciously sharp gags with a disarmingly likeable persona, Brendan is a fresh, intensely enjoyable act with a dark imagination!", "We book Brendan with confidence. An asset to any night." - COMEDY SHEEP
