Barrie Hall

Sophisticated Geordie comedian, Barrie Hall is one of the performers in new Channel 4 comedy sketch series Experimental. He also appears in BBC 1's new entertainment show, Spy TV hosted by Ian Wright.

Barrie performs stand up comedy regularly all around the country. Equally at home performing extended sets or as compere, he performed at this year's Edinburgh Fringe in his own sell-out stand up show.

He co-presents on the Sandi Toksvig show on LBC radio (Thursdays 12-2 pm) and appears regularly on stations including BBC Five Live, London Live and BBC Radio Scotland. He also does a regular comic look at the week's news on the ITV News Channel. In print, he has written articles for the Independent and Sunday Sun.

Barrie grew up in a pit village in the north east - a bit like Billy Elliot but without the ballet. He learned to fly a plane at 17, but is still saving up to buy a Spitfire. He was going to become a RAF pilot but was too tall to fit into the cockpit. He has a degree in psychology from Durham University which he put to good use after graduation working as a TV press officer promoting entertainment shows like Eurotrash. He is married and lives in south London.

As writer and performer Barrie appeared in Show me the Funny, a 16-part sketch show on Channel 4's entertainment channel E4. Other TV work includes writing and starring in the sitcom Mad Mack (Channel 4) and Molotov Cocktail, a sketch series for the Paramount Comedy Channel.
